How Do We Track SEO Success?

SEO (Search Engine Optimization) can be a tricky thing to track. There seem to be a million different softwares and services that tell you that’s what they do. There are even more people out there claiming to be experts. So how do you know who and what to trust when it comes to tracking SEO success. How do you know what works? Well, in a word, research! Lots and lots of research.

SEO as a concept is simple. Optimize your website so that when someone searches for your product or service, your website comes up top on the list. Achieving that result is much more difficult. Today we’ll go over a little more in detail of what kind of services you get from T22 Media when we start working on an SEO project.

Site Audit – The quality of your website and all of its web pages matters. Broken links, mislabeled images, and slow loading time can all negatively impact your ranking. Our number one step is to get your site up to speed, literally.

SEO Keywords – One of the major reasons websites come up in a search is because they contain the words for which you are searching. If you want apples, then you type in apples to the search bar and it brings you results about apples.  Are you using this correctly though? There can be more than one keyword and there can even be key “phrases”. You can’t just type “Apples, apples, apples!” on your website and expect to get a bunch of traffic. People search for things like “organic Fuji apples, no pesticide apples, largest apples, best apples for pie,” and the list could go on and on. We figure out what your target audience is and tailor your content to reach those customers.

Link Building – When you have produced some great content for your website and it’s running well, then you need to start building links. It’s great that you have an apple pie recipe on your site. It’s even better if the Food Network has a link to your recipe. It’s even helpful if a food blogger has a link to your site or recipe. Having quality link to your site helps drive traffic.

Position Tracking – Once you start to make changes you will want to set up some way to track your progress. We use a paid service that tracks everything from your full site rank down to keyword rankings as well. After all, the goal of SEO is track your success. It takes time to get your website up to par, get quality content, Keywords, and backlinks. So the process of getting a higher ranking takes time as well. That is why it is important to make sure you are tracking your changes and making sure they are moving you in the right direction.

Brand Monitoring – Now that you have the majority of the base work done you can monitor to see who is mentioning or posting about your company or brand. This will help you to know if there are good things that you may want to highlight on your website. It may also alert you to negative things that you may need to manage.

The most important part of SEO is to remember that it is an organic process. That means things will change and grow naturally. You can plant the seeds but you have to continually work on it. It doesn’t stop after you put the seed in the ground. You’ll want to make sure that you are going in the right direction or maybe you find another direction that might work a little better. The important part of SEO is constantly monitoring and tailoring your site and content to keep up with the latest trends. If you have any questions about any of the processes or would like to get started then let T22 Media know what you want to achieve, and we can help you.
